The potato is a versatile and indispensable product within the food patterns of a lot of consumers.

The Netherlands Nutrition Centre states that potatoes contain a lot of carbohydrates, natural fibres, proteins, vitamin B and minerals. Further potatoes contain also vitamin C. In comparison with other nutrition, potatoes contain not many calories. This makes the potato suitable as healthy nutrition (Voedingscentrum, 2008).
